In one of her best shows, Oprah mentions that she began gaining weight again in 2007 and after initially using her diagnosis of a thyroid condition as a crutch, she began to really look at what was happening in her life and why she is truly overweight. She discusses her insecurities and how she was comparing herself to others around her, such as former guests Cher and Tina Turner who at in excellent shape in their 60s (Oprah was 53 during the taping of the show she did with the who artists). She recognized that she felt somewhat fractured in her day-to-day life and was not enjoying things like she use to.
It seems like some of the many lessons to be learned from Ms. Winfrey is that we should never compare ourselves to others, that we all have our own struggles and to live life to the fullest.
